The only challenge?
Finding a creek in North Texas that actually photographs beautifully can take a little searching.
Many areas around DFW that have water access are either heavily developed, crowded, or don’t have the natural feeling families are hoping for.
I wanted this session to feel like an escape.
A place where the family could slow down and enjoy being together.
So I started location scouting.
After exploring different areas around Frisco, I found a hidden creek tucked behind a local park. It was the kind of place you might walk right past without realizing what was waiting beyond the trees.
Once we made our way down to the creek, everything changed.
It suddenly felt quiet.
Peaceful.
Almost completely separate from the city around us.
The creek was surrounded by trees, textured rocks, and soft green tones that created the perfect backdrop for an outdoor family photography session.
And then there was the rain.
How Rain Transformed This Frisco Family Session
North Texas weather can be unpredictable, but sometimes the unexpected things create the most beautiful moments.
Because of the recent rainfall across DFW, this creek was completely transformed.
The water was flowing stronger than usual.
The rocks were partially covered.
The trees were vibrant and green.
And tucked along one side of the creek was a small waterfall that made the entire location feel almost cinematic.
It looked nothing like what many people imagine when they think about family photos in Texas.
Instead of a dry landscape, we had movement, texture, and the calming sound of running water throughout the entire session.
The rain didn’t just change the location.
It changed the entire feeling of the photos.
And that’s one of my favorite things about outdoor family sessions—nature always brings something unique that cannot be perfectly planned.
